Twenty-year-old Wealthy Wilson was recruited from Starz University in 2022 as a Yello Scholar for the Internship Program. As a student of Information Technology, her interest in Lonestar Cell MTN was to gain an understanding of its operations. However, she ended up working in HR.

“It’s amazing that I got to work in the HR department.  As someone who has been into IT forever, it was a little difficult at first to not dabble in anything technical. Since joining the department, I’ve improved my interpersonal skills and undertook some technical tasks including the completion of the Staff ID cards Project,” she said.

According to Ms. Horace, Ms. Wilson, with minimum supervision from the Information Technology Department, single-handedly transformed the staff ID card template into a modern design for the over 150 Lonestar Cell MTN.  Now, Ms. Wilson handles onboarding for New Joiners and other HR tasks.

“Over the last four years, “said Ms. Horace, “we have been able to provide practical job training and capacity development for over 37 young Liberian Scholars (males and females), particularly in the field of telecommunications and technology.  Five of these scholars have been hired as permanent employees of Lonestar Cell MTN.”
