Lonestar MTN Empowers Police

Liberia’s premier GSM Company, Lonestar Cell MTN, has reiterated its commitment to helping ensure security in Liberia. The company gave the assurance when it donated water and free air time to the Liberia National Police during the inauguration ceremony of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Vice President Joseph Boakai.

Making the donation on behalf of the company, the chief of corporate communication Dr. Laurence Bropleh, said Lonestar Cell will continue to be a friend of the Liberian government.

Dr. Bropleh described Monday’s inaugural program as historical, noting the police provided security for Liberians and foreign guests at the Capitol Building. He said providing free air time for the police was aimed at enabling LNP officers to communicate freely with one another while in the discharge of their duties.

In response to the donation from Lonestar MTN, Police Chief of Traffic Miekee Gray thanked the company for thinking of the police during national programs. Gray praised the company for taking the responsibility to provide free air time and water for the police, and described the offer as timely.

Meanwhile, Lonestar Cell MTN on Friday, January 13, 2012, held its sixth “Text N Win” Promotion Raffle Draw with several persons walking away with cash prizes. The draw, which was held at the company’s Red Light offices outside Monrovia, is part of a 4-in-1 Promotion launched sometimes ago.

According to the company, the 4-in-1 promotion is named and styled: “Perfect Holiday Gift,” and will run for the next three months. It said the “Text N Win,” draw will give away L$10 million in cash and airtime during the three months promotional period. “Txt N Win” is a SMS based game that gives customers an opportunity to win daily, weekly and monthly prizes.

The monthly draw for December, which is the biggest of all the draws of the month, was won by a taxi driver Alphonso Jutee, who snatched away L$500,000 after sending 20 text messages.

Alphonso was announced the monthly winner in the company’s raffle draw when his number appeared on a projector screen in his absence, but in the presence of the public and the media.

He described the opportunity as very timely, which came at a difficult moment in his life.  According to him, he is jobless, but depends on colleagues to earn a living, adding the money will afford him the opportunity to become self-employed.

Another Lonestar customer, Shalia Kenneh of Logan Town has become the second winner of the weekly draw for January.
