No Intention to Contest

The Senior National Vice Chairman of the ruling Unity Party says he will not contest any position during the ensuing party National Convention scheduled to take place July 7 in Gbarnga. Amb. Jeremiah Sulunteh told our correspondent that he has decided to be an ordinary partisan, but feels obligated to the party.

Amb. Sulunteh, who was in the country to await the arrival of the U.S First Lady, said he will remain in the country to participate in the Unity Party convention. The Liberia Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mexico,Canada and the U.S, also refused to state to whom would he give his support – VP Joseph Boakai and Togar McIntosh, maintaining that the two men were equally qualified.

He said he would work with anyone who emerges as the standard bearer of the Unity Party, adding that Vice President Boakai is a good leader and well experienced, while adding that Mr. McIntosh has the international experience and very well educated.

Though he stated that he will not run for any post at the Unity Party convention, Ambassador Sulunteh told journalists that he will be a major player in the 2017 General and Presidential Elections. He was spoke last weekend in Gbarnga, Bong County when he visited his native county after arriving from the U.S to await the arrival of the U.S First Lady.
