Rep. Francis Nyumalin: UP and Lofa people will not accept fraudulent result

By Bridgett Milton

Amid the release of provisional results of June 28, 2022, Lofa County senatorial by-election, Lofa County electoral district#1 Representative Francis Nyumalin says the opposition Unity Party and the people of Lofa will not accept fraudulent results, intended to satisfy President Weah and the ruling CDC.

Rep. Nyumalin in a release issued here late Wednesday called on the National Elections Commission to do what is customary in keeping with its mandate as prescribed by the election laws of Liberia.

“My compatriots and fellow Lofians, due to the massive failure of this administration and its gross ineptitude to execute the mandate entrusted to them by the people of Liberia, we believe the CDC-led government views this senatorial by-election in Lofa as their last hope to hang on to power”, Nyumalin says.

According to the Lofa lawmaker, the CDC will attempt, as is already evident by malicious falsehood being spread all over social media and other media outlets, to do anything within their corrupt scope of thinking to cheat and rob the people of Lofa of their constitutional franchise again. Provisional results released Thursday, June 30, 2022, by the NEC on the senatorial by-election gave Independent Candidate Joseph Kpator Jallah heavily supported by the ruling CDC 20,482 voters, representing 40.61 percent, ahead of UP Candidate Galakpai W. Kortimai, with 16,666 votes or 33.04 percent of 83.92 percent polling places reported. Editing by Jonathan Browne
