South African businessman eyes Liberia’s sea port sector
The National Port Authority has received in audience a high-power delegation from Johannesburg, South Africa, headed by prominent businessman Robert Wellinton Gumede. Mr. Gumede held talks with the Management of the NPA Tuesday.
According to a release, the delegation’s visit is aimed at exploring possibilities of investing in the Liberian sea port sector. Mr. Gumede said the Port of Liberia has huge investment potential to revive the
Country’s economy. He made the comments following a visit to the Port of Greenville in Sinoe County followed by a presentation by the NPA Management on prospects and ongoing developments taking place
within the Port Authority.
The delegation also expressed interest in partnering with the NPA to further enhance its operations through marine training, infrastructure development and inter-modal means of transporting goods throughout Liberia. The release said making remarks, NPA Managing Director David
Williams, expressed optimism over the delegation’s visit to the port, and indicated that his administration looks forward to partnership investment in the areas of infrastructure development, capacity building, and marine services. Press release
