South African investor arrives in Liberia today

A South African investor, Mr. Robert Wellington Gumede, at the head of a 12-man delegation, arrives here today, Wednesday, for a two-day visit. According to the Office of the Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Mr. Gumede’s visit is aimed at exploring possibilities of investment in the Country.

Mr. Gumede – a prominent business tycoon in South Africa, is the Executive Chairman and Director of Guma Group Ltd since 2005, and has served as the Chairman of the Tourism Investment Corporation Limited.

While in Liberia, Mr. Gumede will meet with senior government officials and other high level representatives to discuss economic renewal and infrastructure development. He will also meet with the Chairman of the National Investment Commission to conclude discussions on steps to actualize investments here.

The Gumede Group has interest in the natural scenery and beauty of Grand Cape Mount and other Coastal Counties. He expressed the hope that his companies could develop key areas to make them major tourist attraction.

It can be recalled that Vice President Joseph N. Boakai, between 2012 and 2014, led series of investment forums in the United States, the United Kingdom and other parts of the world to discuss Investment opportunities that abound in Liberia, a release from the Office of the Vice President of Liberia said.
