U.S. envoy to promote Global Health Security here

U.S. Department of State’s Coordinator for Threat Reduction Programs Ambassador Bonnie Jenkins is currently on a two day working visit in Liberia. Amb. Jenkins who arrived here on Tuesday will participate in a two-day conference celebrating Lab Week.

He is expected to speak about Liberia’s participation in the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) and will lead a workshop on Biosafety and Biosecurity. She will also hold informal roundtable discussions with Non-Government Organizations and private-sector stakeholders operating in the health care sector.
Amb. Jenkins promotes the coordination of the Department’s Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) program and U.S. government programs in chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological security (CBRN). She is also engaged in the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA), which was launched in February 2014 and is a growing partnership of nearly 50 nations, international organizations, and non-governmental stakeholders to help build countries’ capacity to help create a world safe and secure from infectious disease threats and elevate global health security as a national and global priority.-Press release
