UL lecturer assumed Methodist’s men presidency

A lecturer at the University of Liberia (UL) Mr. Victor Lincoln over the weekend assumed the presidency of the St. Matthews United Methodist Church’s local men’s department, along with several other new officials.

The officials were given a two – year mandate to steer the affairs of the local Church’s men unit.

The grand induction ceremony took place at the Church’s edifice Sunday, 19 December 2021 during a special service that brought together several guests, and prominent officials of government.

On 9 October 2021, the St. Matthews United Methodist Church Logan Town branch conducted an election that saw a new code of officers being elected.

Those inducted include Mr. Victor Lincoln, President; Mr. Lloyd Toh, Vice President for Administration; Mr. Gabriel Newton, Vice President for Operations, and Mr. Stephen O. Roberts, Treasure.

The list also included Mr. Dewn Tarr, General, Secretary-General; James Doe, Assistant Secretary-General;  Mr. Johnson Momo, Financial Secretary; and Mr. Dickson Kun, Chaplain.

Giving his induction speech, Mr. Victor Lincoln expressed excitement and appreciation to the entire Church for choosing him on a white ballot to run the affairs of the ministry in consultation with the pastors.

“What you have demonstrated to me shows that you all believe in me and my entire leadership.  Growing up as a child in this Methodist Church and serving in several capacities, I can assure you that we will continue the good working relationship,” Mr. Lincoln noted.

He assured me that his leadership will be an inclusive and consultative leadership that is willing to take opinions from everyone.

He further indicated that his leadership has identified numerous projects that they are planning to undertake within the next few months.

Administering the spiritual affirmation and induction ceremony, the Senior Pastor at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, Logan Town branch, Rev. Solomon R. Payjlahkai, Sr., said he is well pleased with Mr. Lincoln and his team.

He added that they are a committed people that have served the Church for long.

“I pray that the wisdom needed to run this organization to the glory of God be given [to] you to help [us] the Pastors in the progress of the ministry,” said Rev. Payjlahkai.–Edited by Winston W. Parley
