“We will never surrender Liberia to opposition”

--Rep Gray says

By Lewis S. Teh

Ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Representative Acarus Moses Gray says they will never surrender ‘the democratic tendency’ of the country to the opposition.

The CDC Montserrado County Electoral District #8 Representative accused the opposition of squandering the opportunity it was given in 12 years.

“We will never surrender the democratic tendency of this country to the opposition, because we give them 12 years and they squandered that opportunity,” Mr. Gray said over the weekend while being endorsed by 32 communities from his district.

Gray claimed that the record his leadership and the CDC has left in Liberia is unprecedented, therefore, he cannot allow the country to go back to its ugly past.

“This moment marks a significant [one for our] quest for a first-round victory. Victory is certain and nothing can stop the first-round victory of the CDC, ” he added.

According to the CDC lawmaker, his party has done much to put the country on course, claiming that it is impossible to lose it to the opposition.

He challenged residents of his district to reflect on how they allegedly suffered in the past to send their children to school until the Weah-led government came and changed the narrative by paying examination fees for senior students.

He also cautioned young people to stand up and protect their own future, warning them that any attempt to vote the opposition will mean that they would cut off the good that the CDC leadership is doing for citizens.

Gray accused former President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf’s regime of failing to pass the drugs.

“How can you put your best player on the bench when others have no idea [on how] to pass a ball?” Gray opined.

“You see Soniwein, Slipway, Johnson Street, these communities remain our personal pepper bush and our personal properties of District 8,” said Mr. Gray.

“We are the head of these communities, and those who come here, came to walk-about. Therefore, we will not give them credence,” he continued.

The head of the Redemption Movement of Electoral District #8 Madam Watchen Barrow said the organization was founded by conscious-minded individuals who are residents of the district.

“We’re an organization that carry out vetting process of qualified individuals who are [desirous] of contesting the seat of our district,” she said.

She said they had gathered at the program to allow residents of the district to interact with their lawmaker face-to-face, and to listen to some of his plans he has for them.

“I convened this meeting to inform you that the re-election bid of Representative Gray is cardinal to the growth of our beloved district,” she disclosed.

She said Rep. Gray has demonstrated through his representation at the House to be re-elected. She gave him credit for improving the public health sector in the Soniwein and Slipway Communities and buttressing the efforts of parents to pay their children’s school fees
