Weah receives massive support in Pleebo

Thousands of residents of Pleebo, Maryland County, have turned out to welcome President George Manneh Weah and his campaign team, pledging their support for his re-election bid.

The locals, during an outdoor program Tuesday night, 3 October 2023, lauded President Weah for key developments that their district has benefited from his government over the past five years plus.

They named stable electricity from neighboring Cote d’Ivoire, provision of streetlights, and an ongoing construction of a modern city hall and reduction in transport fares due to the availability of National Transit Authority (NTA) busses from Pleebo to Harper, among others.

A jubilant crowd took to the streets in Pleebo, to welcome President Weah and his campaign team Tuesday night upon his arrival.

During the outdoor program, President Weah was presented a symbolic key of the city by the Mayor.

Earlier, a kid presented flowers to President Weah, lauding his support to education throughout the country, including payment of exam fees for senior high school students and tuition waiver for public universities, among others.

The kid, on behalf of the district, said they deemed it necessary to flower President Weah for his remarkable works over the nearly six years of his regime.

The traditional leaders in Pleebo said their district had long been yeaning for President Weah’s visit.

Mr. Christian Williams, representing the traditional leaders, said they were so happy and proud that President Weah reached Pleebo.

He said they want their result to be for President Weah. He also thanked House Speaker Bhofal Chambers, saying it was not a mistake to make him the House Speaker.

He added that they want Mr. Chambers to be elected for the second time as Speaker of the House.

The City Mayor said key developments they have benefited from the Weah regime over the last five years plus include stable electricity from Cote d’Ivoire, solar lights in the streets, an ongoing construction of a modern city hall, and availability of NTA busses from Pleebo to Harper.

He said they are resolved to give President Weah a one-round victory this October.
