By Emmanuel wise Jipoh

Residents of Liberia’s western region comprising Bomi, Gbarpolu, and Grand Cape Mount Counties have pledged to support President George Weah to get a one-round victory in the October 2023 elections.

Mr. Weah is seeking re-election for another six-year term against 19 rivals. Western Region Coordinator and Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe led President Weah and his entourage to a series of town hall meetings and interactions with supporters in the counties.

They interacted with residents in Tubmanburg, Clay District, Gbah Jacket, Bomi County as well as Gbarma, Bopolu City in Gbarpolu County. They also interacted with residents in Senje, Robertsports in Grand Cape Mount County.

Snowe said the westerners were satisfied with the developmental workings of President Weah and they have resolved to keep the tie with him for more developments.

Senator Snowe said the Western Cluster region is happy with the achievements of Mr. Weah’s administration so far and has resolved to overwhelmingly re-elect him.

Snowe pointed out tangibles of Weah’s regime including free tuition, the Emirate Hospital in Gbarpolu County, empowerment for market women, and beneficiaries of the Western Clusters Social Development Funds, among others.

The Bomi County Senator emphasized that he has been among the doubting Thomases, arguing that Mr. Weah has done much for the country’s development, especially for the western region in the last five and half years of his administration.

He said it has defeated the misinformation and persistent refusal of the doubting Thomases.

“I was among the doubting Thomases and I told the people of Bomi County and Liberians in general that President George Weah will not make a good President. But five years later, he has turned the spectrum and has proven us wrong,” said Senator Snowe.

Senator Snowe is a former ranking member of the opposition Unity Party (UP). He suggested that a second term must be a must for President Weah.

Snowe said the people of Bomi, Gbarpolu, and Grand Cape Mount Counties will not resist President Weah’s bid.

For his part, James Toe, the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Gbarpolu County Coordinator described President Weah’s developments as immeasurable.

Youth groups, women, and elders from across the region in separate engagements praised President Weah for his developments. They urged him to continue because they have resolved to stick with his administration.

In response, President Weah hailed the people of the region for the confidence reposed in him. Mr. Weah pledged his government’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives and livelihoods of the people. He also guaranteed them more developments if he’s re-elected.

“Give me my second term let me finish my work. And I promise, I won’t let you down. If you cannot trust anyone, you can trust me. I’m your developmental President Weah. I talk and do,” Mr. Weah pleaded.

He promised to prioritize the pavement of the Gbarpolu road, more developments to Grand Cape Mount and Bomi Counties, and overall development of the region under his second term mandate.
