Bong claims blackmail

Bong County’s Jorquelleh District Two Representative Prince KermueMoye is complaining here that a local newspaper – the People Newspaper, published by self – styled advocate Alfred G. Togba, has been linking him to an alleged rape scandal in what he considers a blackmail spree.

The People Newspaper, in its recent publications last Wednesday and Friday, linked the Bong County Lawmaker to an alleged rape case involving one teenager only identified as Blessing, believed to be residing in the Rock Hill Community on the Robertsfield Highway.

Rep. Moye claimed that a ‘complete blackmail’ was designed against him by one J. Hezekiah Siakor, Manager for the Justice and Peace Hub in Bong County and another person only identified as Ambassador McIntosh by allegedly implicating his name in a rape case that did not exist at all.

But in the wake of the paper’s publications, Rep. Moye wrote an official complaint to Montserrado County Attorney J. DakuMulbah, Gender Minister Julia Ducan-Cassell, the President of the Female Lawyers Association and the police. According to him, the claim against him was only intended to destroy his hard-earned reputation, further alleging that Mr. J. Hezekiah Siakor – one of the men pushing the allegation against him (Rep. Moye) has since expressed interest to contest against him (Moye) in the ensuing 2017 presidential and Legislative elections in Jorquelleh District Two.

But the Bong County Representative insisted that Mr. Siakor was of no threat to his re-election bid, describing him as a non-competitor in the 2017 race. Rep. Moye also communicated with his lawyer, Cllr. Albert S. Sims, on  the matter. Cllr. Sim, knowledging receipt of the matter, said his client – Rep. Moye, had informed him about a text message from one Ambassador

McIntosh alleging that he (Moye) had ‘an urgent matter to address himself to quickly avoid exposure. The alleged text message claimed that a complaint had been lodged against Rep. Moye to the sender’s wife concerning Rep. Moye’s alleged interaction with little Ma-Mary. Cllr. Sims explained further that they had filed the complaint on behalf of their client (Moye) to seek redress from the County Attorney and all relevant authorities since the issue of rape was not a light crime under Liberian laws.

Rep. Moye, in his complaint, also confirmed filing an earlier complaint against J. Hezekiah Siakor to the Justice and Peace Hub in Bong County after he started his reported blackmail against him. The complaint, according to the lawmaker, angered Siakor, who threatened to further damage him (Rep. Moye) by implicating him in such an alleged rape case. On the continuous publications by the People Newspaper, Rep. Moye revealed that the paper’s Publisher Alfred G. Togbah called him a few days before threatening that if he did not speak on the alleged rape issue, his paper would go on and on to publish damaging articles on Him.

But Rep. Moye said he told Togba that his team of lawyers had written the County Attorney, Gender Minister and others on the matter seeking redress, and that it would have been premature to speak on such matter.
