Breaking news: Liberians voter in 2023 elections

Amidst Massive voter turnout

Over two million Liberians are currently standing in queues around the country waiting to cast their votes in the ongoing 2023 Presidential and Legislative elections.

There are 20 presidential candidates in the race including incumbent president George M. Weah, who is seeking a second and final term. His closest rivals are former Vice President Joseph N. Boakai of the former ruling Unity Party and former Coco-Cola Executive Alexander Cummings of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP).

There are about 88 seats to grab in the legislature, 73 in the lower House, and 15 in the Senate. Vote counting is expected to begin at the close of polling this evening.

The 2023 voters’ turnout has been the largest voter so far in Liberia’s post-war elections with the stake in this election being high. So far there has been no report of violent clashes.
