Duwolee Nyennue Township presents MOU input

Citizens of Duwolee Nyennue Township comprised of traditional leaders, including, women’s groups, youth and elders, 25 August, in Panama Town; presented their MOU inputs to oil palm developer Golden Veroleum Liberia.

In a special meeting, with more than 200 in attendance, the Township Commissioner Ramsay Snoh on behalf of his citizens presented the inputs to GVL Kpanyan Estate Regional Controller Manohyaran Pillai.

Youth leader Tweh Kargeor and women’s representative Jestina Manneh expressed their satisfaction that agreement has been reached among the township population to develop approximately 2,000 hectares for oil palm development and economic growth.

“We took our time to officially welcome GVL to the area, as we were concerned with neighboring communities and wanted to fully study the merits of a potential investment by the company,” said Caesar Brown, Our delay to offer land to GVL is not our refusal, but intended to address issues of encroachment by adjoining communities and to as well as, study the merits and demerits of the investment of GVL,” said Mr. Caesar Brown, Duwolee Township land rights committee chairman.

“We strongly believe that all of our people, at home and in Monrovia, are whole-heartedly satisfied and are thinking of making additional offers to the company and increasing development, and we have the dream of maybe one day having fully operational palm oil mill in our township”

Regional Controller Pillai thanked the people of Duwolee Nyennue for the presentation of their long awaited MOU input. Pillai called upon the citizens to be on the alert for the killer Ebola Virus Disease, which has affected the country and the West African region.
