Ghanaian Amb. Amoako pays courtesy call on President-Elect Boakai

The Ghanaian Ambassador to Liberia, Amb. Kingsford Amoako, and senior staff of the Ghana Embassy in Monrovia, including the Head of Chancery and Head of Consular, paid a courtesy call on the President-Elect Amb. Joseph Boakai and Vice President-Elect Senator Jeremiah Koung, at his office located at Rehab Centre in Monrovia on 22nd November 2023.

The top Ghanaian diplomat during the visit presented a congratulatory message to President-Elect Boakai on behalf of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and the Ghanaian people.

At the meeting, Amb. Amoako congratulated President-Elect Boakai and Vice President Jeremiah Kuong for their victory in the just ended elections. He also commended Liberia’s efforts in promoting democracy and peace in West Africa by conducting successful elections in a peaceful, free and fair atmosphere.

His Excellency Amb. Amoako emphasized on the long-standing relations between Ghana and Liberia, and called on the incoming administration to continue to maintain the excellent relations that exists between both countries.

Amb. Amoako said he hoped that under the presidency of Amb. Boakai, the contributions of indigenous Ghanaians who have lived along the nine [9] coastal counties of Liberia for ages would continue to bring the two countries ever closer, which in return would boost the local economy of Liberia.

He called on Liberia to take full advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area [AfCFTA] for the overall benefit of Africa.

President-Elect Amb. Boakai, on his part, warmly welcomed Amb. Amoako and his delegation and made clear his intentions to strengthen ties between Liberia and Ghana, stating that he hopes to increase business and trade between the two countries.

President-Elect Boakai, subsequently, handed over copies of his vision under the ARREST program to Amb. Amoako as the cornerstone of how the Unity Party intends to govern in the next six years. President-Elect Boakai added that he looks forward to welcoming senior Ghanaian government officials to Liberia to foster trade relations.

Amb. Amoako’s visit to President-Elect Boakai signifies the strong bond between the two countries and also demonstrates that Ghana is ready to work with the incoming government to further strengthen the economies of both countries and enhance their ties.
