Inter-Ministerial Competition Scheduled For April 30

The National Inter Ministerial – Agencies tournament is expected to kick-off on Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) In Central Monrovia.

In an exclusive interview with New Dawn Sports recently in Monrovia, the Chairman of the organizing committee, Murvee Gray said the venue of the tournament was unanimously agreed upon by representatives of various Ministries and Agencies because of its centralized position.

He said though the government has made available the amount of US$20,000.00 for the tournament, a minimum of US$200.00 has been charged each Ministry or Agency as registration fee so as to enable the organizing committee under write the cost of other expenses such as, media coverage, refereeing incentives, as well as entertainment, among others.

According to him, April 18 is the deadline for registration as no Ministry or Agency will be accepted after this date. Muvee Gray, who is also Assistant Minister for Sports at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, said already all of the Ministries and Agencies, including, Finance, Defense, Commerce, Lands and Mines, LPRC, LEC, Maritime, and NPA among others have registered for the tournament.

He disclosed that the organizing committee has resolved that participants will have to be 30 yrs-old and above, stating: “This is being done for the full participation of Ministers and Directors such as Samuel Woods, Edward Beyan Kessely, Augustine Ngafuan and Eugene Shannon.”

The tournament is expected to feature three disciplines namely, soccer, kickball and volleyball. Already Ministers, Directors and their principal Deputies can be seen at various boutiques and business houses purchasing boots, skips, hulls and other sporting materials for the tournament
