Kakata to be electrified soon

Margibi County Superintendent John Buway, has disclosed plan to electrify Kakata City and adjacent parts within the next 18 months.

Superintendent Buway said on September 29, 2015 he met with an India company and a Chinese company that are supposed to restore power to Kakata, adding that this will be an extension of the Liberia Electricity Corporation or LEC.

He said electrification project is to be funded by the Government of Liberia and the World Bank. “Just yesterday, I was in meeting with an India company and a Chinese Company that are supposed to bring electricity to Kakata in eighteen months. That’s an extension of the LEC facility that is in Monrovia”.

According to him, both groups were expected to in Kakata yesterday, October 1, and the county’s authorities have asked them to ensure that citizens of Margibi are employed, adding unless where they cannot find qualified and competent people in the county to work, then they will have to employ people from Monrovia.

He said Margibi authorities have emphasized that people from the county should have first preference in terms of employment.
