LACC end first phase of anti-graft awareness in schools
The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has completed the first phase of its anti-corruption awareness campaign in schools. The first phase which climaxed at the William V.S. Tubman High School in Sinkor covered forty eight schools in Monrovia.
Speaking at a formal program held at the William V.S. Tubman High School recently, LACC Oversight Commissioner for Education & Prevention, Aba Hamilton Dolo said talking to the young people of Liberia on corruption was a priority of the Commission. She noted that corruption continues to impede national development and imparting the virtues of integrity in students as future leaders was a major concern to the LACC.
The LACC Commissioner added that the William V.S. Tubman High School was selected as the venue to climax the first phase of the anti-corruption awareness program in schools because it is one of the nation’s renowned high schools of academic excellence and urged students to study hard and avoid the temptation of bribery for grades.
Earlier, the principal of the William V.S. Tubman High School, Alassis N. Goldore praised the LACC for its initiative to educate students on the effects of corruption which he said will guide students as they grow up, noting that “it is better to bend a tree when it starts to grow instead of allowing it get bigger and there is no means of bending it”.
Mr. Goldore noted that corruption has already taken over the older generation and that the LACC initiative to bring anti-corruption awareness in schools will positively impact the lives of young people as future leaders.-Press statement
