NEC Holds Training in Gbarnga

The National Elections Commission has commenced ten-day training forits Magistrates. The training in Gbarnga, Bong County, is focused on Electoral DisputeResolution. Speaking to our Bong County correspondent in Gbarnga today, a NECChief Dispute Hearing Officer said the training is intended to give aclear picture to the magistrates on how to handle disputes arising outof the elections within their constituents in line with the electionlaw.

Counselor Muana Ville added that most of the magistrates were notlawyers, and the need to train them on the law focusing on electoraldisputes cannot be over emphasized. He said everything about election is law, and as such, the magistratemust be ready to handle electoral disputes in line with the law.

Counselor Ville also told our correspondent that they have alsoundertaken training for political parties and civil society on theelectoral dispute process and will keep engaging stakeholders.
