Stop playing games with NEC

-Candidate Neufville tells Rep. Gray

By Lewis S Teh

Montserrado County electoral district#8 Representative Candidate, Ambassador Rufus Neufville, urges incumbent Representative Acarous Moses Gray, who is in the race, to accept preliminary results being released by the National Elections Commission, instead of “playing games” with the electoral commission.

“Prince Toles congratulations serve well; brother Acarous Moses Gray please join me in the private sector, stop fighting for government job and stop playing games with the NEC”, Amb. Neufville writes.

He made the comments on a Facebook podcast on Saturday, October 14, 2023, when he conceded defeat to Unity Party Candidate Prince Toles in the just-ended October 10th legislative election in the district.

The ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Representative for Montserrado County Electoral District #8 Gray has extended appreciation to his supporters, who backed him during Tuesday’s election. He believes that with the support of his people, he will be re-elected, but the National Elections Commission (NEC) has not declared a winner in the district.

“From what we have seen, we are in a comfortable lead and the lead is irreversible. But it’s the NEC that will announce the final results,” Gray noted in a press conference on Wednesday, 11 October 2023 a day after the poll.

He extended appreciation to various community leaders, and district chairpersons for their unflinching support given him over the last years.

But reacting to the NEC preliminary results and the ruling CDC lawmaker’s recent news conference, Amb. Nuefville, former chief of protocol of the Republic of Liberia, encouraged Gray to accept the results.

“District#8, Prince Toles congratulations. Serve well brother. Acarous Gray, please join me in the private sector. I’ve been here for 6 years and still strong. Stop fighting for government job. STOP playing games at NEC. We have the RESULTS. You had 12 years. Let us appreciate the people and move on”, he said.

Ambassador Neufville, who heads a civil society organization under the banner, People Action Network or PAN, for short, previously represented District# 8, but was booted out by Representative Gray in 2011. Editing by Jonathan Browne
