‘Takun J’, Lonestar Cell MTN sign agreement

Liberia’s GSM giant, Lonestar Cell MTN has signed a two-year partnership agreement with top and renowned Liberian HIPCO star Jonathan Koffa, otherwise known as Takun J.

The partnership agreement with Lone Star Cell MTN is aimed at promoting Liberian music and musicians. Takun J is expected to appear and perform on Lonestar Cell MTN programs to serve as a representation of Liberian musical stars.

The two-year undisclosed mouth-watering partnership agreement signed between Lonestar Cell MTN and the HIPCO Star at the company’s headquarters in Monrovia will also take Liberian music to another level. The agreement was signed on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the company head offices in Congo Town, outside Monrovia.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LoneStar Cell MTN, Mr. Tebogo Mogapi said the partnership agreement signed with the Liberian top musical star is in full fulfillment of the company’s support and commitment to promoting local music and artists.

He said the company is working tirelessly to “promote Liberian talents on the world stage” adding that, “we are trying to do this.”

He said the company is excited to enter into a partnership with “Takun J”, who he said will hence, become the “new face” of the GSM Company. Mr. Mogapi disclosed that the partnership agreement is in the “interest of the Liberian people.”

He said Liberian musicians would promote events and activities of Lonestar Cell MTN for the period of two years. CEO Mogapi assured that Lone Star Cell MTN would fully live up to the agreement signed with the local musical star. For his part, Takun J expressed gratitude to the management of LoneStar Cell MTN, his manager and fans for their support.

According to him, the partnership agreement signed with the company would be used to “help and care for my musical friends,” adding that, “this is the moment that I have been waiting for.”

He vowed to serve as a “bread winner” for many Liberian musicians across the country. Takun J is noted for some of his popular tracks, including “Da Your Every Day Activity, Who Make You Cry, Do It My Way, Shame on Them and Survivor, amongst others. Though the value of the agreement signed was not disclosed by both Takun J and Lonestar Cell MTN, it is believe that to worth several United States Dollars.

Meanwhile, the company on Friday, also gave out several other prizes to 16 of its many customers under the “Da your time Na” and mobile money promotions.

According to the IT and Financial Analyst of the company, Paul Montgomery, mobile money is  the cheapest means by which one can send and receive money, recharge the phone with units as well as transact business in the country.

He said as per the companies’ mobile money rules, only those who subscribe to mobile money and receive or send LD$1000 dollars or above will be qualified to partake in the raffle draw.

Those, who won Friday’s draw, were: Roosevelt Quiah, Ganyan Massaquoi, Musa Donzo, Francis Davis Musa Jalloh, Samuel Mulbah, Edna Snyder, Othello Robert, James Blackie and Fred Jackson. Other winners included, Esther Tiawon, Edwin Massaquoi, Andrew Davis and Wellington Pennoh of Monrovia, Bong and Nimba Counties respectively.

Three other persons also won cartoons of creamy Wheat, Tiger generators and a 32 inch television. The winners came from other parts of the country. The raffle draw also took place Friday at the company’s headquarters in Monrovia. According to Montgomery, the promotion is being held in collaboration with DSTV-Liberia, Aminata filling services and Samsung appliances.

Montgomery said the promotions are intended to improve the lives of ordinary Liberians, especially subscribers of the company in line with government’s poverty reduction strategy. He further encouraged LoneStar subscribers to continue to send and receive money through the mobile money service and stand a chance of winning some of the companies’ fabulous prizes.

“Lonestar Cell remains the only GSM Company with the widest coverage and best mobile phone internet services. When we say something, we mean it. From now to the end of April, those who send and receive money from mobile money will stand a chance of winning prizes because our word is our bond,” he explained.

For their part the winners’ commended the company for the prizes and vowed to continue using the companies’ services, while encouraging others to join the network.
