Tragic motor accident kills five in Maryland County 

The accident occurred when the bike on which the victims were riding collided with an ambulance believed to be for Partners in Health, a non-profit health organization.

Monrovia, March 26, 2024: Four persons believed to be students of William V.S. Tubman University, including a patient within an abundance, were killed in a tragic car accident along the Harper Highway.

The accident occurred on Monday, March 25, 2024, at about noon when the bike carrying the victims collided with an ambulance believed to be for Partners in Health, a non-profit health organization buttressing the county health team’s efforts.

The victims include three males and two females. They are identified as Philip Williams, Standly Natt, Godfrey Dweh, and Marie Dennis, along with the patient whose name wasn’t mentioned.

They were rushed to the J.J. Dossen Hospital but later pronounced dead by health workers.

Philip Williams and Standly Natt both died instantly in the accident.

Eyewitnesses told the NewDawn newspaper that the ambulance had a severe mechanical fault. They were en route to Harper with a patient from Pleebo when it collided with the motorbike rider and his passengers. 

The eyewitness continued that the driver of the ambulance immediately fled the scene following the accident due to the angry crowds.

The eyewitness further added that four of the deceased were a mix of freshman, sophomore, junior, and graduating students of William V.S. Tubman University.

The eyewitness termed the situation regretful and worrisome, pointing out that the driver allegedly was speeding with the ambulance before the incident occurred.

In May last year, a tragic road accident involving a motorcycle and a Land Cruiser Pickup led to the death of a 63-year-old resident believed to be a pastor of the Assembly of God Church in the Southeastern Barrobo Statutory District in Maryland County and a local journalist also died in the same accident.

Also, in October 2021, at least two people died while another person was left in critical condition after two commercial motorbikes collided along the Pedebo-Plolo road near Yookudi town in Maryland County.

In June 2021, a Field Supervisor of a company operating in Maryland County also died in a deadly crash involving two motorcycles in central Pleebo.

Another tragic road accident in August 2020 left two dead after motorcycles carrying three people, including the rider, crashed into a refrigerated truck in Pleebo, Maryland County.

Back in August 2019, an ambulance driver, along with two others, died after a truck belonging to China Railway ran into an ambulance that was carrying a patient to the J.J. Dossen referral hospital. 

According to the report, the accident occurred close to the Tubman Farm vicinity in Pleebo, Maryland County.

Many citizens in the county believe that most of these accidents and several other unreported ones are the result of alleged overspending and reckless driving.

  1. This journalist didn’t do a good job in writing this story. He should have gathered how the accident happened. As it was written, it is covering up the negligence and recklessness of the ambulance 🚑 driver who did not check his bolts and tyresbeforemaking that trip.
