VP Boakai, top gov’t officials visit Qatar Embassy

Vice President Joseph N. Boakai Thursday October 27, led top Government officials at the Qatar Embassy in Monrovia to convey their condolences to the Royal family of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani, former Emir of Qatar, whose death was announced last week. He was 84.

The former Emir Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani, is the grandfather of his Royal Highness Sheikh Tamin Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the current Emir of Qatar. Vice President Boakai was accompanied by Foreign Minister Marjon V. Kamara, Justice Minister Fredrick Cheru,Finance,Planning and Development Minister BoimaKamara and National Investment Commission Chair, Etomonia Tarpeh.

In his message of condolence, to His Royal Highness Sheikh Tamin Bin Hamad Al-Thani and the government and people of Qatar, Vice President Boakai told Qatari Embassy’s Charge d’Affaires, Mr. Shamsan Abdullah Al Sadathat the people of Liberia mourn with Qatar for their great loss.

VP Boakai further expressed appreciation for the ties between the two countries and prays that the Almighty Allah will console the bereaved family and the people of Qatar. For her part, Foreign Minister Kamara extended heartfelt condolences, described the late Emir Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani as a great leader and prayed that Allah will allow his soul to rest in peace.
Justice Minister Cheru in his condolence message said “we are deeply saddened by the tragedy experienced by your country and say our hearts are with you.”

In a brief remark, Qatari Charge d’Affaires, Mr. Shamsan Abdullah Al Sada welcome the Vice President and top government officials at the embassy and while thanking them for the visit acknowledged the solidarity the government of Liberia has shown to the Royal family and the people of Qatar over their loss.
