NaFAA Director General Madam Emma Glassco told a radio talk show in Monrovia Monday, 27 February 2023 that the program will be used to conduct short-term training for fishmongers.

She added that it will be used to conduct training for women in fishery who do not want to get a Bachelor’s degree, but also want some specialized training for six weeks or six months in Fishery Science and Aquaculture.

She indicated that the Center is going to be directly under NaFAA with foreign instructors who are experts from various universities which they are partnering with.

“That is where you will have all these foreign collaborations with all of the universities and you will have all these experts coming into Liberia to be instructors, teaching their courses here,” she said.

At the same time, Director Glassco noted that the Center will be fairly sponsored by the World Bank and it will be hosted in Liberia directly under NaFAA.

She added that some certificate courses will be thought at the Center and that they are considering having some short-term courses for journalists.

She indicated that young people today have seen that the Fishery Sector of the country is an emerging economy sector full of enormous potential and opportunities.
