Police in Tappita, lower Nimba County have arrested 11 suspects following a riot that resulted to 10 persons sustaining injuries in Yorpea Old Town. The riot occurred on Saturday, 27 August at a semi-final district league.
The league was organized by district youths to raise funds for the Kpablee Administrative District to undertake some development in the area. The NewDawn gathers that the situation ensued between the match commissioner and a player of Yorpea New Town and subsequently developed into riot between the two communities.
Our correspondent said the bloody riot lasted few hours with 10 persons seriously injured. The victims are receiving medication at the Yorpea New Town Clinic in district#6, Nimba while the 11suspects have been detained at the Tappita Police Station, pending investigation.
