Bong Youth Leader on Tour with Anti-Ebola Materials

About seven thousand persons in Walapolu Chiefdom in Bong County have benefitted from anti-Ebola materials. The anti-Ebola materials were provided by the Karney Foundation for Youth Empowerment, Advocacy and Transparency.

At the start of the presentation last weekend, the Board Chairman of the organization told our Bong County correspondent that the distribution of the materials was to help citizens to follow the preventive measures against Ebola. Mr. Curtis Dorley said, though there were reports of progress in the fight against Ebola, the robust approach in place needed to remain until the country is completely freed from the virus.

Mr. Dorley, who is traveling across the Chiefdom with an independent Ebola expert on a vigorous awareness campaign, expressed the belief that the measures being put in place by his organization will buttress government’s efforts against the Ebola virus.

He noted, the materials should not be the only tool to fight the virus, but the dissemination of essential messages that will reduce the spread, adding that his foundation will execute a door-to-door campaign exercise in the Walapolu Chiefdom. Mr. Dorley– a citizen of Sanoyea District put the cost of the materials being donated at over three-thousand United States Dollars. He urged prominent citizens from Sanoyea District to follow his organization’s example.

He said if citizens of the chiefdom and District collaborate and mobilize their little resources, the disease would be prevented from spreading to their homeland. Citizens of the chiefdom, receiving the anti-Ebola materials commended the Karney Foundation for Youth Empowerment, Advocacy and Transparency for raising their hope.

They said, though not a single case of Ebola has been reported in the area since the outbreak, the need for preventive materials was also paramount in the area.
