GSA, Du-port Road Project Starts

The Ministry of Public Works has begun the construction of a 2 miles road linking GAS and Du-port Road as well as the Rehab Community all within the Paynesville area. The project will last for 3 months and SSF Construction Company is the company that is doing the work.

Minister Woods said the construction is among a chain of campaign promises being fulfilled by Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.  He said the ongoing road project has got some residents in the area complaining that it is intruding into their property.

But Woods was quick to have stated that those who claiming that the government is taking away their property should bring forward their legitimate land deeds for justification. “If government sees the need that your property is useful and you have deed to show that you are the rightful owner, we will negotiate with you”.

He said there are people constructing on government property (land) with the notion that she not yet ready.  The contractors have however started complaining residents in the areas for digging and breaking road under construction which they undermining the project.

For Edwin Snowe, District #5 Representative in Montserrado expressed happiness of the road construction.  He claims to be setting-up a task force in the community protect or avoid people digging rocks around the road.

Rep. Snowe also promised to host a mass meeting to educate the people on the important of the road and to address those claiming that government has taken their property from them.
