Liberia, Morocco Clash Today

Liberia’s National Football team- the Lone Star, will today lock horns with their Morocco counterparts in the City of Casablanca. According to the Liberia Football Association, the Lone Star will meet with a feeler National Team of Morocco in preparation for their African cup of nation game against Tunisia.

LFA President Musu Bility said on the basis of the importance of the game on 3 September, Lone Star’s stating team will not be used in today’s friendly. “Today match will really feature new and young players because most of the players we have on the team are getting older; so we are trying to work on the new players,” Mr. Bility said.

Head Coach James Debbah has invited 20 local and international players for the match against Tunisia in Tunis for the Gabon 2017 African cup of nations on statuary, September 3 2016. Those invited are Tommy Songo, Gallay James, Dirkir Glay, Teah Dennis, Gizzie Dorbor, Hilton Varney, Joel Johnson, Trokon Zeon, Murphy Dolley and Van Dave Harmon. Others are Omega Roberts, Dominic Tarpeh Doe, Theo Weeks, Nyumah Dorley, Anthony Laffor, Dion William, William Jerbo, Sam Johnson, Sekou Conneh, Paye Mark, Emile Damey, Bortu Daude and Edward Junior Wilson.

Liberia top Group A of the qualifier with 10 points ahead of Tunisia on head-to-head record and Coach Debbah is hopeful of making his way to the 2017 Gabon cup of nations. Some members of the team’s delegation had been detained by the Moroccan Immigration authorities for illegal entry into their county.

The Five detained members of the delegation have already been released. The match in Tunis will be officiated by a South African referee – Daniel Frazer Bennett, and assisted by compatriots Zakhele, Thusi Silwela and Mothibidi Ben Jannet.
