Veteran educator Leo Simpson endorses Boakai

Exactly a week to the November 14, 2023 Runoff Presidential election, veteran Liberian educator, Dr. Leo M. Simpson, has endorsed the candidacy of United Party Standard Bearer, Joseph Nyumah Boakia.

Rev. /Dr. Sampson is Principal and Chief Administer of the Haywood Mission Institute in Old Road, Monrovia.

Liberia’s closest presidential election in two decades is going to a runoff after none of the 20 candidates that participated in the first round obtained 50 percent plus one of the total votes cast to become victorious

However, incumbent President George Manneh Weah and his main challenger Joseph Nyumah Boakai who received the highest percentages are going for runoff, as constitutionally required, to determine a winner.

The election, held on Oct. 10, 2023, was the first such contest fully organized by the government without assistance from international partners since the end of the 14-year civil war that left 250,000 people dead.

The incumbent President Weah secured 43.8 percent of the total votes, with 100 percent of the ballots counted, while Amb. Boakai, a veteran statesman slightly, with 43.5 percent.

Speaking Monday, November 6, 2023, at the endorsement ceremony held in the private office of Ambassador Boakai in Rehab Community, Paynesville, Dr. Simpson described the former Vice President as the only man in the raise capable of redeeming Liberia from economic hardship.

According to him, he has known the Unity Party Standard Bearer for several years and has no doubt that if elected President, he will transform Liberia into a prosperous nation.

He laments that regrettably, every part of the country is now filled with garbage without any authority of government doing anything to help clean the country.

Rev. Sampson is optimistic that under a Boakai Presidency, the country’s huge youthful population that are involved in commercial motorcycling for daily survival will be motivated to instead pursue sustainable technical and vocational skills that will empower them to contribute to national growth and development.

In response, Ambassador Boakai lauds Dr. Leo M. Simpson for the endorsement and promises that under his Presidency, Liberia will be rescued to regain its lost image.

He says the campaign team of the rescued Mission is doing everything possible to ensure that votes cast by members and supporters of the Unity Party on November 14, 2023 are protected across the country.

At the same time, he calls on all UP members and supporters to turn out in their numbers to vote to ensure total victory for the rescued Mission. Editing by Jonathan Browne
