UP burdens Liberians

In a turned around, Liberty Party Standard Bearer Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine is describing the Unity Party-led government as a total burden on the people of Liberia.

Brumskine’s LP has for the most part, refrain from openly criticizing the Sirleaf administration, a strategy that has led many to declare the party “regime collaborator.”But addressing cross section of citizens recently in the provincial city of Gbarnga, in Bong County Cllr. Brumskine argues that taxes collected from citizens across the country are not being utilized for their benefits, noting that nothing much is allotted to the health sector to improve the living standard of inhabitants.

He laments that each member of the 53rd Liberian Legislature receives about US$400,000 budgetary allotment for office management, while public hospitals across the country are left vulnerable.

He continues that health facilities here are without sophisticated medical supplies to address the health needs of the citizenry, adding that the huge sum of money allotted to Lawmakers is not only corruption, but criminal.

He vows that under his Presidency, salaries and allowances of Lawmakers, President, Vice President and other top officials of government would be drastically reduced to address the needs of the masses.

The LP Standard Bearer spoke over the weekend in Gbarnga, Bong County when the party formally endorsed the former National Secretary General of the YMCA, Edward Gboe, as its candidate in Electoral District Three.
