AB Kromah eyes Police top post

By Emmanuel wise Jipoh

Former Deputy Inspector General of Police (102) for Operations, Col. Abraham Kromah, says he will settle for nothing less than the position of Chief of Police if given the opportunity to serve the Unity Party-led government again.

Col. Kromah, who currently operates a private security firm here, was very robust against terroristic acts, motorists, commercial bikes, tricyclists, and crimes generally when he served as Deputy Police Director for Operations under former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

He maintains that he has all the experiences required to serve in any administrative position in the Liberian National Police, but he would be delighted to take up the role of Inspector General, this time around.

“I didn’t go to school, acquire knowledge only to serve as 102”, Kromah said when journalists asked him in what capacity he would prefer to serve the LNP amid public speculations that he is seeking to replace current IG, Col. Patrick Sudue when the Unity Party administration takes office.

Liberia is currently going through a peaceful transition after the November 14, 2023, Presidential runoff election won by former Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai of the Unity Party.

Speaking to reporters Friday, December 9, AB, as he is affectionately called, said he served five directors in the Police, so it would be great to serve in administrative position.

“Now, I’ve been deputy for almost five Police directors in this country; “I was deputy for Chris Massaquio, Brownie Samukai, even Gregory Coleman, and if it is the position I’m offered by the new government, I will gracefully go for it to serve my country diligently,”

He said being an administrator will also suite him better, because he has the ability and expertise.

“My profession didn’t say you are to do only operations alone, I can do Administration; an operator is a better administrator. Col. Kromah holds a master’s degree in criminal justice from the United States with emphasis on policing, administration, and operations. Editing by Jonathan Browne

  1. I met with AB Kromah when he was 102 at his office in Central and maybe his house, at which time I was working on a safety project. I went to ask him for his help since at the time bike riders were being demonized, and were considered reckless in riding. He wanted to assist me, however, the day we were shooting the video he went to Buchanan. I couldn’t get him. I am considering the same thing again and I hope his dream come true to become 100. He’s a talented guy, and he’s a guy with principles. I don’t want people to see him as a mandingo man therefore he shouldn’t get the position. I believe when he becomes 100 he will deliver.

  2. The human rights abuses of AB is well documented. He is very lawless and reckless. How a man who was fired from incompetence and recklessness be reappointed to serve? In the real world, a simple background check would disqualify him. He should have been criminally charged by the Ellen government.

  3. The Joseph N. Boakai-led Government needs and must be highly suspect and exceptionally careful not to nominate and appoint Mr. Abraham Kromah as Inspector General (IG) of the Liberia National Police (LNP). Whether President-Elect, Boakai knows it or not, Mr. Kromah, has a nationally and internationally challenging and abusive human rights record. During the days of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf-led Government, Abraham Kromah, 102, then Deputy Director for Operations at the LNP, used his Government issued Police Vehicle to drive through a group of Liberians situated and selling in the City of Monrovia. Also, Abraham Kromah and police officers assigned to him publicly targeted, shot and killed some unarmed Liberians in Mount Barclay, Montserrado County. Due to Abraham Kromah’s unlawful and reckless behavioral, Mrs. Johnson Sirleaf and her Government were compelled to swiftly terminate Abraham Kromah as 102 of the LNP. Liberians abroad and back home, say No the appointment of Mr. Kromah as IG of the LNP.

  4. I think if given the opportunity to AB Kromah under the new government of Boakai and Koung, Mr. Kromah can make a good IG in the interest of the Liberian people.
