GC meets with stakeholders

The Governance Commission in collaboration with its partners on Wednesday July 4, held a one day consultative meeting with relevant Ministries, Agencies and Commissions on the establishment of a national Monitoring and Evaluation framework to monitor government’s expenditure.

A presentation by Mr. Anthony Nimley – Senior Economist at the Ministry of Finance for Development Planning, the planned framework is a mechanism intended to enhance accountability and transparency of government’s funding support to the MACs and other institutions.

The framework/draft policy, when approved will mandate those receiving financial support from government to account for such support through periodic reports, just as is being done for donor institutions.

The GC consultative meeting was held at the National Elections Commission (NEC) James Fromoyan Conference Hall on 9th Street in Sinkor. Collaborating partners include LISGIS and MFDP. Other MACs also expressed interests in being a part of the collaborating tripod identified for the drafting of the policy framework document.

Meanwhile, the GC will on Friday, July 6, 2018, hold a policy dialogue the theme “Building a Patriotic Nation” with experts from Academia serving as panelists. The Dialogue will be held at the Corina Hotel in Sinkor and begins at 9:30 a.m.-Press release
