Gov’t announces 65 bilateral scholarships

The Government of Liberia, in partnership with the Government of Morocco, has made available 65 bilateral scholarships in two categories, a press release issued in Monrovia says.


The scholarship covers undergraduate or professional and vocational education programs at public Moroccan institutions of higher learning beginning 2018/2019 academic year, the release dated 13 August discloses.
In category one, undergraduate and professional studies will be provided in different disciplines including Medicine, Geology, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Computer Science, Maternal Health, and Child Health, Environmental Science, Laboratory Science.

In category two, the release says there will be training in Vocational Education (TVET) training in Carpentry, Masonry, Plumbing, Electricity, Building Construction, Electronics, Computer Networking Technician, Computer Programing Technician and General Mechanics.

Category two also includes training for Manufacturing Technician, Electro Mechanics of Automated Systems, Refrigerator Repair Technician, Specialized Technician in Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician.

The Liberian Government says the scholarships aim to give a unique opportunity to Liberians to strengthen their skills and expose them to best practices and training in Morocco.

It says students will be required to learn the French language, and studies will be conducted in French. Applicants are required to be Liberian nationals, have graduated from secondary school not later than 2016, with strong science marks (80 and above) and possess secondary school average of “B” or above.

Applicants are also required, according to the release to have passed the West African Examination Council (WAEC) with very strong science marks (3 – 4); and must be between 17–22 years old at the time of application. It says eligible Liberian nationals must forward two copies of an application form (to be picked up from the Division of Scholarships).–Press release
