Protest at Gd. Gedeh Community College

The health science department at the Grand Gedeh Community College is demanding accreditation from the Government of Liberia through local authorities in Grand Gedeh County.

Reports from the county says about 40 health science students of the community college have protested in the streets of Zwedru, the county capital with placards, calling on the administration and government to grant the department accreditation to graduate its students.

A community radio station from the county quotes the aggrieved students as saying that since the college was accredited by the Board of Trustees four years ago, they were given assurance that they would be among the first graduates from the college.

“We were told by the school administration that we should keep coming to school on grounds that we will graduate with the first class of the school, but since five years now, nothing is happening”, the protesting students reportedly lamented.

They have been denied graduation because the department of health science has not been accredited by the Ministry of Health in Monrovia.  The Grand Gedeh Community College was established on April 22, 2011 by the government thru the Ministry of Education.
