Senate dissects GC’s communication

-as Sen. Grupee promises proper scrutiny

The Plenary of the Liberian Senate has mandated its committee on Internal Affairs to take a critical and wholistic look at a formal communication forwarded to the Upper House by the Governance Commission or GC, headed by Professor Dr. Amos Claudius Sawyer.

The GC submitted to the Senate’s Plenary through President Pro-Temp Armah Zulu Jallah a communication, which amongst other things, emphasizes the issue of decentralization of local government administration and total inclusiveness of locals in the governance process of the country.

However, the Senate’s plenary has asked the Senator Grupee-led committee to carefully peruse the GC’s communication and further advise Plenary as to what should be done accordingly.

Sen. Grupee, a one-time Chairman of the Senate Committee on Social Security and Pensions, has from time to time been in the vanguard of decentralization of the central government activities.

With oversight over governance, the Senator has assured Plenary that the committee will professionally and expertly analyze the GC’s communication and advise the Plenary properly on how to proceed.
