Senate invites MIA

The Liberian Senate has invited the Minister of Internal Affairs and his team to appear before plenary on Tuesday, 9 July to present the rollout plan of the approved Local Government Act of 2018.

In a communication written by the chair of the Senate Committee on Internal Affairs, Maryland County Sen. J. Gle-blo Brown says the Local Government Act concerns the 15 counties, urging all senators from the various counties here to be present during the public hearing.

He notes that the Committee on Internal Affairs, reconciliation and Governance has resulted in inviting the Minister of Internal Affairs along with the Ministry’s partners to explain to the Senate, the Executive’s plan for the rollout of the approved Local Government Act of 2018.

According to Sen. Brown, since the passage of the Act and it’s signing into law by the President , the committee has had series of engagements with the Minister of Internal Affairs and his team.

He adds that after the discussion with the Minister of Internal Affairs and his team, it will be open for debate and thereafter the committee on Internal Affairs, Good Governance and Reconciliation will take over the matter, compile all its plans and come back to plenary with appropriate recommendations.
