SRC Management outlines projects for 2019

The Management of the Salala Rubber Corporation or SRC outlines several projects to be undertaken next year in communities within the SRC operational areas through the Salala Agricultural Workers Union or SAWU and local authorities.

The projects include hand pumps, pit latrines and pits for wastes disposal, amongst others.SRC General Manager Alloupy Shinning, made the disclosure during a stakeholders’ meeting between the company and local authorities and citizens of Margibi District Five where the company situates.

Mr. Shinning said he has managed to convince his bosses in Brussels that there is a serious need the company implements those projects based on the needs of citizens.He said Management intends to construct four hand pumps, two pit latrines, several pits for wastes and renovate hand pumps that have broken down.

According to him, the company, workers’ union, the local authorities and the citizens will work in identifying specific points where the projects are to be implemented.He thanked the President of the Salala Agricultural Workers Union or SAWU Oldman Kollie, for constantly pushing the interest of the workers and keeping management’s feet to the fire concerning the implantation of the projects.

SAWU President Kollie expressed delight about the projects, saying it will bring some relief to citizens of the area. He stated that as result of his constant engagement with the company, dating as far back as 2013 prior to his ascendency as union president, the company has also decided to do a lot of things for surrounding communities.

He added local authorities will work with the citizens in making sure projects outlined are implemented.Kollie also announced a special Christmas package for the local authorities and the citizens as it has been done by the workers union and the company.
