UL Alumni Association to Launch US $2 Million Fund Drive

The Alumni Association of the University of Liberia is to launch a fund drive to raise US $2 million to help ease the financial burden of the cash scrapped University. The fund drive is expected to commence at 12 noon this Thursday, April 21, 2016, in the UL Auditorium on the Capitol Hill Campus of the University.

The Chief Launcher of the fund drive is Alumnus Joseph N. Boakai, Vice President of the Republic of Liberia. To guarantee that the fund drive is successful, the Alumni Association has constituted the University of Liberia Alumni Fund Drive Campaign Committee (ULAFUND) to coordinate the drive.

Against this background, the ULAFUND has projected and targeted an overall fund drive campaign of US $2,000,000.00 (Two Millions United States dollars) which is to be raised according to short, medium and long term approaches.

All funds raised will be directed toward faculty and infrastructural development (Internet facility, library, laboratory, alumni center construction, computer labs, electronic processing equipment and scholarships) and other operational costs of the University.

The fund drive will be characterized by presentations underscoring the achievements and challenges of the University of Liberia as well as soliciting financial contributions in cash or kind from invited stakeholders and the general public. There are two separate dates chosen for the fund drive launching. This Thursday’s launch will be the first launch in Liberia, while a second launch is being planned for the United States. The Committee also plans to reach UL alumni members in Nigeria and other parts of Africa as well as the world at large.
