“Unsophisticated idiot”- Police chief describes Weah

Liberia’s Deputy Police Director for Operations, Col. Abraham Kromah, branded here as a rebel by opposition political leader George Weah, has described Mr. Weah as an “unsophisticated idiot”.

Col. Kromah (right) has told a NewDawn’s interview that Ambassador Weah lacks the ability to intellectually defend the Congress for Democratic Change that he represents politically.

The deputy police director was responding to an earlier attack on his person unleashed by Weah on Monday at the CDC headquarters in Congo Town after clashes  erupted between protesting partisans of the Weah’s Congress for Democratic Change party and the police, leaving one CDCian wounded.

The CDCians were protesting the detention of several executives of the party, who were held in connection with the flogging of a fellow partisan Gbeh Montgomery.

“Mr. Kromah’s behaviour these days, harassing our innocent citizens is wrong; although he is a former chief of staff that killed innocent people in this country, I think he needs to come back to the law and behaves like a civil person and behave in a civil manner; not to harass innocent citizens”, Weah had vented.

But in a reaction Tuesday, Col. Kromah described Weah’s statement as dumb headed and out of focus, noting that, “If Weah, who claims to be a political leader, can say things to denigrate my character then it is frustrating, but if I may say, Weah is an unsophisticated idiot, who does not have direction in leading a political party.”

The CDC and the police had engaged in running battles intermittently, sometimes resulting to death. In 2011 protesting partisans of the Congress for Democratic Change clashed with the police before the party’s headquarters in Congo Town, which left one person dead.
