UPP denies endorsing UP

Opposition United People’s Party (UPP) has denied ever endorsing ruling Unity Party (UP’s) presidential candidate Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai.

UPP says in a press statement issued Tuesday, 19 December under the signature of party chairman T. Q Harris that the Chairman and Executive Members of the UPP would like to inform the public that reports circulating that the party has given its support to the UP in the upcoming runoff election are false, misleading and deceptive.

The UPP release adds that the pronouncement made on December 19, 2017 by a few former officers and non-partisans of UPP including Dr. Marcus S. G. Dahn, Vice Standard Bearer of the Liberian People’s Party (LPP); Prof. Edwin Tetteh; Ambassador Wesley M. Johnson, member of the Governance Commission; among others, suggesting that the UPP has endorsed UP in the runoff is criminal, diabolical and an act of desperation.

The release says further that the leadership of UPP calls on all partisans and the Liberian people in general throughout the country to campaign and vote for Sen. George Manneh Weah and Jewel Howard-Taylor as the presidential ticket of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) in the runoff election.

The party says it must be noted that, on October 30, 2017, it endorsed and gave its full support and backing to the CDC in the upcoming runoff presidential election.–Press release
